About me

After retiring from more than 30 years of community photojournalism, I've enhanced my documentary style of photography to include more personal, artistic expression. My depictions carry layers of deep emotion and sometimes-shifting or conflicting beliefs. From power and peace to mystery and the macabre, found objects to seascapes, I convey constant inner discovery and outer nuance through sharing my work with you.
I branded my freelance services as Ken Levy Media in 1986. As a freelancer, I continue to offer my writing, editing and photography expertise to numerous publications, businesses, NGOs, and private clients. I'm available for your next project; contact me for details. Here are a few testimonials to my work.
I am the editor of "Seasons of the 208," a quarterly Idaho magazine featuring outstanding photography and insightful writing. It debuted in June 2025. I photographed, wrote, and designed "Disappearing Legacy: Historic Barns of the Northwest." This full-color, glossy keepsake coffee table book is a superb photo-documentary of old barns and homesteads, replete with fascinating histories and snippets about the form and function of these magnificent structures.
A sample of my barn photography was featured in Idaho Public Television's "Barns of Idaho" program (https://video.idahoptv.org/video/barns-of-idaho-qsme9u/).
My photographs are on display in restaurants and hotels, and in private collections worldwide. I'm a firm believer in doing what I can to help enrich the human condition by donating 20% of every sale I make to the Idaho Foodbank. I also support public television and arts communities in Boise and the Treasure Valley of Idaho. My work is available in fine prints and exquisite metals. Contact me at ken@kenlevymedia.com.
